About The Studio
Born from the mind of two eccentric art students, GenkiGoth Studios is the creative collaboration of Miriam Medina and Dee Jay Smith. Both trained in studio fine arts and 2D hand drawn animation, their art strives to impose a more traditional viewpoint on the often pushed aside genre of anime and Japanese culture. They approach their discipline from a place of classical training, working to add a touch of class and history to an ever evolving field. As a collaborative effort, Miriam and Dee Jay see every project as an adventure, a way to grow and change as artist, to gain experience and challenge their limits, to push boundaries and experiment and explore everything that is art. Coming from diverse backgrounds their works, both still and motion based, draw on many different sources and inspirations, including subcultures like video games/ geekdom, steampunk, graffiti, gothic, and sci-fi, among many others, which allows them to create an artistic vision like no other. GenkiGoth Studios is an effort born of an ideal, a notion to create, to create something unique, special, and personal… to create something real.
